Classics and Beyond

Music that will stand the test of time
Saturday, May 13, 8pm | Monday, May 15, 7:30pm

Virginia Somerville Sutton Theatre, 4100 Well Spring Dr, Greensboro

In all major cities of the world classic architecture stands alongside contemporary structures, weaving an intricate cityscape that is interesting, diverse, and reveals many stories. Music has its own ‘classics.’ Inevitably new eras emerge, new styles demand attention, and new classics are formed. Timeless music has the ability to evoke emotion, remind us of our mutual humanity, and express the inexpressible. Join Bel Canto Company in the final concert of our 40 season featuring historical ‘classics’ together with varied styles of contemporary choral music.

This concert weaves a binding thread from “Herr, wenn ich nur dich habe” by Heinrich Schutz to Reena Esmail’s “When the Violin.” Favorites by Rossini reside side by side with more recent works like “I Can Tell The World” by Moses Hogan and other emerging ‘classics’ in this memorable performance of music that is sure to stand the test of time.

Please enter through the Event Entrance at the East Gate (closest to Battleground Ave) and follow Wildflower Drive (highlighted in blue) to the designated parking area.
There is a circular drive and parking area adjacent to the theatre entrance portico which may be used to drop off and pick up those with mobility issues. However, all parking in the circular drive is reserved for Well Spring residents. Please plan to park in the designated event parking lot. There will be parking attendants on site, as well as a shuttle to help those who may need assistance.
