Uncovering the Wonders of the Eternal: Hidden Gems Concert

The Choral Arts Collective is pleased to present another awe-inspiring concert featuring both Bel Canto Company and Gate City Voices. Hidden Gems will showcase lesser-known works from masterful composers. Join us on Saturday, March 25th at 8pm or Monday or March 27th at 7:30pm at First Baptist Church in Greensboro for an evening of awe-inspiring music that explores the wonders of the eternal.

Dan Forrest’s In Paradisum sets the tone for the concert, exploring one perspective on humanity’s understanding of what happens after death. His Three Nocturnes, inspired by poems from Sara Teasdale, Emily Dickinson, and Walt Whitman, delve into the mysteries of the cosmos.

The highlight of the evening will be Rosephanye Powell’s Cry of Jeremiah, her first major work and a true masterpiece. This dramatic and moving composition is brought to life by a powerful combination of narrator, percussion, brass, and organ. Powell is a talented and award-winning Black composer, including the recipient of the prestigious Florence Price Award for excellence in choral composition.

Don’t miss the chance to discover these hidden gems of the choral repertoire, performed by two of the Triad’s very own outstanding ensembles. Senior and student discounted tickets are also available.
